the heart of the Wilkes University campus area of downtown Wilkes-Barre. It remained in the Hillard family for over 100 years escaping the perils of remodeling and modernization and then passed into the ownership of new families who loving maintained and updated the house. Thus Hillard House still retains its original windows and sash, interior shutters, hardware, wood flooring and ornamental plasterwork .
